The thirty studies collected in this volume belong to Charles James Frank Dowsett (1924-1998), the First Calouste Gulbenkian Professor of Armenian Studies in Oxford from 1964 to 1991. The articles cover a period from 1951 to his retirement in 1990, explore and elaborate topics from Armenian history, literary sources, classical, patristic, medieval, and early modern, his lifelong contribution to Armenia's heritage.

This collection features 20 studies by European and Armenian scholars written for Festschrift dedicated to 70-year anniversary of Vrej Nersessian. The papers cover various aspects of Armenian Studies,and reflect diverse periods.

The greater part of the items included in this book are guard-leaves of later manuscripts while the rest are individual fragments. A detailed description, a sample picture and complete transcription of the texts of each fragment are given. An attempt if their approximate dating has been made. The texts, with a few exceptions, have been identified. In the case of guard-leaves, the data of the corresponding manuscripts are also presented.
